Minutes of committee Meeting held at Chicheley on 13th December 2021
Present
Brian Nelson, Chris Weston, Bob Clarridge, Dave Ekins, Brenda Hart and Jean Foster.
Opening
Brian opened the meeting at 10.30am and thanked everyone for attending.
Minutes.
The minutes of the previous meeting having been circulated to all club contacts, were proposed by Brenda seconded by Dave, confirmed and signed by the Chairman
Matters Arising
The NSMBA bowl stickers are still in the process of being obtained.
B.B.C. to be contacted and enquiries to be made what safe bowl certificate they may hold, or any safe bowling documents they have to enable ESMBA safe bowls approval.
Treasurers Report
The treasurer presented a statement of accounts showing income and expenditure up to the end of November 2021.
A cash sum of £80. was given to the treasurer from monies raised from the raffle, leaving a balance of £33.40 for future prizes.
Entry monies from various competitions held at B.B.C. were also passed to treasurer from the County Manager.
A discussion was held on the County league entry fees for the season 2021, which due to Covid and the lack of a League Co-ordinator, the league was late in being arranged and implemented. The priority was to get the clubs interested in the various leagues together with getting the necessary forms, dates, and score cards out to the clubs.
It was finally agreed that for this season alone the fees would be waived.
Committee members expenses were approved and submitted to treasurer.
Membership
The acting membership secretary will produce an up to-date list of club’s registrations for the committee.
It was agreed that in the new year to endeavour to encourage more clubs to join the NSMBA with some follow up calls to past clubs not at present registered.
County Manager and Captains Report
The captain /acting league organiser stated that the league is up and running with some games being played with the results coming in and being posted on the website.
With the Country now in “Plan B” some matches may have to be rescheduled and it is hoped this will not cause to many problems and that club fixture secretaries be understanding and accommodating.
A return match was played at High Wycombe against Buckinghamshire on the 5th December, resulting in Bucks being the winners by 6 shots 30-24.
The Pairs competition was played on 12th December at B.B.C. with 17 pairs entered and the final was between Chris Weston/Dave Ekins and Steve McCallister/Ed Sawbridge with Steve and Ed being the victors
Future Competition
It was stated that the arranging of players for the County friendly match against Oxford on the 8th January was in progress.
A discussion followed on implementing a date at the B.B.C. for players who only wanted to play and enter the nationals qualifying games. It was agreed to continue with the arranged games this season but to consider the proposal for 2022-23.
Any clubs entering NSMBA games on 23rd and 30th January and the 13th and 20th February are required to send their forms and cheques back ASAP.
A match between B.B.C. and NSMBA consisting of long mat and short mat games to be arranged if a suitable date can be agreed after April 2022.
Website
A great deal of work has been involved in building the website and as of today, the site is now live and any member can now view it on www.NSMBA.co.uk therein you will find information on competition, league results, future events, fixtures and decisions made by the committee on behalf of its members, including these minutes. We hope all members will be able to access the site which we will endeavour to update as and when information comes in.

MatersArising
As Chris is absent NSMBA bowl stickers to be dealt with at the next meeting.
NSMBA history had been completed by Chris Hopkins and is ready for including on the website. Brenda had thanked Chris on behalf of the committee for the excellent work.
Treasurers Report
Brenda presented a statement of accounts showing income and expenditure up to the end of October 2021, but was waiting for the Bank statement which are due any time.
She stated that the Bank card had now arrived and online Banking can now commence.
Jean gave the Treasurer £75. being the proceeds of the raffles keeping £26.60 as a float for future raffles
Membership
Brian as acting membership secretary to produce an up to-date list of club’s registrations and stated that two more clubs have made a request to join the NSMBA last week, also Roade SMBC are changing from affiliated to registering their players to participate in the league. Brian to send Roade SMBC a NSMBA membership form.
CountyManager and CaptainsReport
Dave reported on behalf of Chris and himself that as there had not been any response to the Chairman letter requesting help to run the league, that he will for the time being organise, keep the scores and run the teams entered in the League as follows, 8 in the evening and 2 x 5 teams in the day leagues and will send out the paperwork and score card accordingly. The commencement of games will start on 22nd November, the Committee thanked Dave for taking on yet another job.
He reported on the County friendly against Oxfordshire held at home on 3rd October with another win for Northants.
The Over 55s pairs held on 31st October at Bridgman Bowl Club was won by Steve McCallister and Chris Hopkins with Denise and Gordan Watts as runners up.
Future Competition
Chris had sent out all the application forms to club contacts for the NSMBA games and will organise according to replies. Brian stated the Manor will be sending in a team for the mixed 4s.
Regarding the County Friendly matches Oxfordshire had requested a further game at their venue on 8th January 2022.
Chris Hopkins is still working on obtaining safe Bowl Certificate at Bridgman B.C. to allow for games with Cambridge to be arranged.

Brenda had posted the NSMBA history and Dave reports on County games on the website, and will post the results of the over 55s.

- Brian to join ESMBA and apply to be County Safeguarding Officer
- Manor SMBC to play Friday afternoon instead of Wednesday evening
- The NSMBA letter heading was discussed and further amendments to be made.
- The hand gel and sanitiser to be positioned on a central table away from the floor mats when playing at B.B.C.
- Bob to look up the NSMBA agreed traveling expenses for the next meeting, which may have to be reviewed, due to general price increases.
